The Sleepy Garden Friend

runningwaterzombie

Lily loved **running** through her grandmother's garden every summer morning. The grass felt like soft green carpet beneath her bare feet, and the morning sun painted everything in golden light.

One day, she discovered something magical near the old willow tree. A creature with moss-green hair and flower-petal skin was slowly walking toward the garden **water** fountain. It moved like it was still waking up from a very long nap.

"Are you... a **zombie**?" Lily asked, remembering the funny creatures from her storybooks.

The creature blinked sleepy eyes and smiled. "Not exactly. I'm a Garden Sprites who's been napping for fifty years! My name is Moss."

Lily giggled. "You walk just like a **zombie** in the movies!"

"That happens when you sleep that long," Moss yawned. "But I smell something wonderful. Can you help me?"

Together they walked toward the **water** fountain, where the most delicious blueberries grew. Moss explained that magical garden friends helped plants grow when children believed in them.

"I believe in you!" Lily said, clapping her hands.

The garden seemed to sparkle. Flowers straightened up, and the **water** in the fountain began to glow with tiny rainbow lights.

"Every summer, come **running** back to visit," Moss whispered, handing Lily a special blueberry that tasted like sunshine and dreams. "Friendship is the most powerful magic of all."

Lily promised she would return, and Moss curled up beside the fountain for another nap, knowing that true friends always find their way back to each other.

From that day on, Lily knew that magic was real — you just had to know where to look, and keep your heart open to wonder.
