The Sleepwalking Garden Mystery
Lily loved visiting her grandmother's garden, especially near the big patch of bright green spinach. But lately, something strange had been happening at night.
"I saw something weird," Lily told her friend Milo the next day. "I'm going to be a spy and find out what it is!"
Milo's eyes went wide. "A spy? Like in the movies?"
"Exactly!" Lily whispered dramatically.
That night, they hid behind the rose bushes with flashlights. Around midnight, they saw it—a slow-moving figure shuffling through the garden rows.
"It's a zombie!" Milo gasped.
But Lily looked closer. The "zombie" was Grandma herself, sleepwalking in her fuzzy pink slippers and nightgown, heading straight for the spinach patch.
"Grandma!" Lily called gently, waking her.
Grandma blinked, looking around. "Oh my! I must have been dreaming about my famous spinach pie recipe from the old country."
The next day, Grandma showed them her secret: the spinach seeds had been passed down for four generations. "My sleepwalking grandfather used to tend this same patch," she laughed. "Maybe the magic of the garden was calling me too!"
Lily and Milo learned that sometimes scary things turn out to be wonderful surprises—especially when you take a closer look. And from then on, they helped Grandma harvest the spinach, knowing that the most magical gardens are tended with love, across generations, even in our sleep.
