The Sleeping Sphinx and the Brave Little Cat
Luna was a small black cat with white paws that looked like she'd stepped through clouds. She lived in the magical town of Storyville, where every house was made of books and the streets were paved with wishes.
One afternoon, Luna heard a strange shuffling sound coming from the old library on the hill. Her whiskers twitched with curiosity. She crept inside and found a dusty book moving on its own!
The book shuffled and moaned like a clumsy zombie - but not a scary one. Just a very sleepy, confused book zombie that had been forgotten for too long. It led Luna deeper into the library, to where the Great Sphinx sat atop a pile of ancient tomes.
But something was wrong. The Sphinx's golden eyes were closed, and she shuffled in circles like a zombie, muttering riddles with no answers.
"What happens when stories are forgotten?" the Zombie Sphinx mumbled. "They turn into... zombie thoughts... wandering forever..."
Luna's heart swelled with sadness. The Sphinx had been alone too long, her magic fading because no children came to hear her stories anymore.
The little cat knew what to do. She curled up on the Sphinx's lap and began to purr - the loudest, warmest purr she could muster. She purred all her favorite stories: dragons who breathed bubbles instead of fire, rabbits who flew to the moon on carrot rockets, and trees that grew chocolate bars.
The Sphinx's eyes fluttered open. Golden light filled the room. The zombie book shuffled closer, its pages straightening with joy.
"You saved me," whispered the Sphinx, her voice like wind chimes. "You remembered that stories need friendship to stay alive."
Luna learned something important that day: The scariest things are often just lonely, and love is the most powerful magic of all. Now every child in Storyville visits the library, and the Zombie Sphinx sleeps peacefully, her golden dreams filled with wonderful stories - and Luna, purring softly at her side.
