The Sky-High Baseball Game

Lily had the curliest, bounciest hair in the whole third grade. It poofed out like a golden cloud around her head, and sometimes, when she was happy, tiny braids would weave themselves on their own. But nobody knew her secret yet.

One sunny Saturday, Lily was walking to the park for her baseball game when she spotted something strange dangling from an old telephone pole. It was a frayed blue cable, glowing with a soft light. Something inside her whispered, *Pull it.*

So she did.

WHOOSH! The cable lifted her right off the ground, higher and higher, sailing through the clouds. When she peeked through her fingers, she gasped. Above her town floated a tiny stadium filled with children made entirely of clouds!

"You're finally here!" cheered the cloud children. "We've been waiting for someone with magical hair to play on our team!"

Lily's hair tingled with excitement. She grabbed a baseball bat made of spun sugar and stepped up to the plate. The pitcher—a serious little storm cloud—threw a ball of pure lightning. Lily swung with all her might, and her hair suddenly sprouted wings!

Her hair lifted her higher as the bat connected. CRACK! The lightning ball soared through a rainbow and burst into a thousand sparkles that rained down like confetti.

"HOME RUN FOR TEAM SUNSHINE!"

The cloud children cheered. Lily's new friend, a tiny cloud named Cumulus, hugged her. "Your hair helps you fly—that's why only you could play!"

Lily laughed as her braids wove themselves into a victory crown. She realized being different wasn't weird at all. It was exactly what made her perfect for this magical adventure.

When the game ended, the blue cable gently lowered her back to the park, just in time for her regular team's practice. Nobody noticed she'd been gone—but she knew the truth.

Sometimes, when the wind blows just right, Lily still looks up at the sky. And if you look closely, you might see a little cloud waving its baseball bat, waiting for the girl with the magical hair to come back and play again.
