The Sky-High Baseball Field

Leo loved the old cable car that rattled past his bedroom window every evening. It climbed the steep hill behind his house, carrying people up to the observatory. But his grandmother told him a secret — if you rode the cable car at exactly sunset on Fridays, it would take you somewhere magical.

One Friday, Leo hid on the cable car until it started climbing. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the car didn't stop at the observatory. It kept going up, up, up until the clouds parted and revealed a floating island where children played baseball under purple and orange skies.

"Welcome!" shouted a girl with silver hair. "I'm Luna. Want to play?" Leo nodded, though he'd never been good at sports. But when Luna's grandmother appeared with a basket of emerald-green spinach leaves, everything changed.

"Try this," Luna said, handing him a leaf. "It's not ordinary spinach. It's moon-grown spinach that gives you special gifts."

Leo took a bite, and suddenly he could feel the wind's rhythm, see the ball's path before it was hit, and move faster than his shadow. He hit a home run that soared through three clouds!

"The cable only brings those who truly believe in magic," Luna's grandmother explained. "And the spinach helps you discover what was already inside you."

Leo returned home before sunrise, his baseball glove still smelling of cloud-dust. Every Friday after that, he rode the cable car to the sky field, where he learned that believing in yourself — and sharing your gifts with friends — was the greatest magic of all.

Now when Leo hears the cable car's familiar rattle, he smiles, knowing adventure is just one ride away.
