The Secret Zombie Friend
Lily and Max were the best of friends. Every Saturday, they played their favorite game: Super Spies! With toy binoculars around their necks and walkie-talkies in hand, they crept through Lily's backyard on a Very Important Mission.
"Agent Lily," whispered Max, "I see something strange by the old oak tree."
Lily looked through her binoculars. There, shuffling slowly through the fallen leaves, was a person in green clothes. Their arms hung loose, and they moved so slowly, like... like a zombie!
"A zombie!" gasped Lily. "What should we do, Agent Max?"
"We must spy on them," Max declared bravely. "For science!"
They crept closer, hiding behind bushes. The zombie knelt in the garden and began planting flowers with careful, slow movements. Up close, Lily noticed something magical — wherever the zombie planted, the flowers bloomed in brilliant colors!
The zombie turned and saw them. Instead of being scary, the zombie smiled and waved in slow motion. "Hello," they said in a soft, crumbly voice like autumn leaves. "I am Zara. I'm not really a zombie. I'm just a very slow gardener because I'm a magical tree spirit!"
Lily and Max were amazed. "You're magic?"
"Yes," Zara said. "I move slowly so I don't miss any beauty. Would you like to help me plant this moonflower? It only blooms at night!"
The three friends spent the afternoon planting together. Zara taught them that being different didn't mean being scary, and that sometimes the most wonderful things come from taking things slowly.
That night, under the stars, the moonflower glowed with silver light. Lily and Max realized their Very Important Mission had led them to the best discovery of all — a new friend who showed them that magic could be found in the most unexpected places.
From then on, the Super Spies had a new member: Agent Zara, the magical gardener who moved slowly but saw everything beautifully.
