The Secret Spy Squad

Leo's eyes sparkled as he held up the old **iPhone** his dad had given him. "It's perfect for our spy club!" he told his best friends, Maya and Sam. The three of them had made secret spy badges from cardboard and met every Saturday in Leo's treehouse to solve mysteries.

That evening, something strange was happening in the park across the street. Weird shadows lumbered between the trees. People moved slowly, arms stretched out, making soft groaning noises.

"It's zombies!" Maya gasped, peeking through her pretend spy binoculars (really just toilet paper rolls).

Sam adjusted his homemade spy hat. "Real zombies? We have to investigate!"

The three friends tiptoed across the street, their hearts pounding like little drums. They crouched behind the bushes, watching carefully. The "zombies" kept practicing the same clumsy walk over and over again.

"That's not how zombies move," Leo whispered, puzzled. "They're... they're smiling!"

Just then, Mr. Henderson from next door called out, "Okay everyone, take five! Great practice tonight!"

The zombies collapsed into giggles and sat on the grass, stretching their arms and legs. Leo recognized them—the librarian, the baker, the mail carrier!

Mr. Henderson spotted the children behind the bushes. "Ah, young spies!" he laughed. "We're practicing for the town's talent show. We're doing a zombie dance routine! Want to learn?"

The three friends looked at each other and grinned. For the next hour, they learned to zombie-walk, stumble-spin, and do the monster mash. It was the most fun they'd ever had on a spy mission.

"Sometimes," Mr. Henderson told them, "the scariest things turn out to be the most wonderful surprises. Never be afraid to investigate—just make sure you bring your dancing shoes!"

The Secret Spy Squad added a new rule to their spy handbook: Always look twice before you assume something is scary. And they definitely invited Mr. Henderson and his zombie dancers to their next treehouse meeting.
