The Secret Sky Game
Emma loved watching summer storms from her bedroom window. One evening, as lightning danced across the dark clouds, she noticed something strange—tiny sparks seemed to be playing catch in the sky!
"That's impossible," she whispered.
But her best friend, Leo, who was sleeping over that night, had already crept to the window. "They're not just sparks, Em. They're playing baseball!"
Emma rubbed her eyes. Sure enough, small lightning flashes were racing back and forth like players running bases, while thunder rumbled like a crowd cheering.
Suddenly, a bolt of lightning struck the baseball field behind their house. When it did, something magical happened—the raindrops stopped falling and started swimming through the air like tiny silver fish!
"Come on!" Leo grabbed Emma's hand.
Outside, the storm had created a secret world. Raindrops swam around them in glowing schools. The air smelled like ozone and wet grass. Emma reached out and touched a swimming drop—it tingled against her finger like a gentle spark.
"You're the spy," a voice crackled.
Emma turned to see a small lightning figure, no bigger than her hand, hovering nearby. It wore a baseball cap made of condensed clouds!
"The spy?" Emma asked.
"Someone who sees our secret game," the lightning spark explained. "Most people just hide from storms. But you two—you watch with wonder."
The lightning ball jumped into Emma's palm. "Want to play?"
For ten magical minutes, Emma and Leo played baseball with lightning itself. The ball buzzed warmly in their hands. Swimming raindrops formed bases. Thunder applauded their home runs.
When the storm moved on, the lightning spark tipped its cap. "Same time tomorrow?"
"Same time," Emma promised.
As the sun peeked through the clouds, Emma realized something wonderful: the best adventures weren't the ones on TV or in video games. They were the ones right outside her window, waiting for someone brave enough—and curious enough—to see the magic in every storm.
