The Secret Sky Game
Max was the best baseball player on his street, but even he couldn't catch what he saw that afternoon.
He was practicing in his backyard when the sky turned dark. Most kids would run inside, but Max was curious. He decided to become a spy. Not a spy who sneaks around looking for secrets, but one who watches for magic.
Behind the biggest cloud, he saw them—the Storm Sprites. They were tiny, glowing creatures with hair made of silver mist. And they were playing baseball!
But this wasn't ordinary baseball. The bat was made from a rainbow shard. The ball? A perfect, glowing orange that shimmered like captured sunshine.
WHAM! The sprite hit the orange into the clouds below.
ZZZ-CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky.
Max gasped. Every time the Storm Sprites hit their magical orange baseball, lightning sparked! They weren't making storms—they were playing the most beautiful game in the world.
The smallest sprite spotted Max peeking through his fence. Instead of disappearing, she waved. She tossed something through the clouds—a real orange, glowing with inner light.
"For our best spectator," her voice seemed to whisper in the wind.
That night, Max kept the orange on his windowsill. It never rotted. Instead, during every storm, it would pulse gently, and Max would know: up in the clouds, the Storm Sprites were playing another magical game.
Sometimes the most amazing secrets aren't hidden—they're happening right above you, if you're brave enough to look up and watch.
