The Secret Pyramid Pool

Lily loved summer days more than anything. Every morning, she'd rush to the backyard pool before the sun even had time to warm the water. The pool was ordinary—blue tiles, a diving board, and sometimes leaves floating on the surface. But Lily knew something magical lived beneath those ripples.

One particularly hot afternoon, Lily noticed something strange. The water wasn't reflecting the sky anymore. Instead, it shimmered like liquid diamonds. Curious, she dipped her toe in, and suddenly the pool began to glow.

A golden pyramid rose from the depths, breaking through the surface without making a splash. It wasn't like the pyramids in books—this one was made of crystal and light, with symbols that twinkled like tiny stars.

"Hello!" said a cheerful voice.

Lily looked around. No one was there.

"Down here!"

A small creature popped out from behind the pyramid. He had emerald-green scales, a purple crest, and the biggest smile Lily had ever seen.

"I'm Fin!" the creature said. "I'm a pool guardian, and I've been waiting for someone to find my pyramid for three hundred years!"

Lily's eyes widened. "Really?"

Fin nodded. "The pyramid appears only when someone with a pure heart comes to swim. And now that you're here, we can be friends!"

That summer, Lily and Fin had amazing adventures. The pyramid could transport them anywhere—to coral reefs, hidden lagoons, even underwater cities where fish went to school. Fin taught Lily to speak bubble language, and she taught him how to play tag.

But one day, the air grew crisp. Fall was coming.

"I have to go soon," Fin said sadly. "The pyramid sleeps in winter."

Lily's heart sank. "Will I ever see you again?"

Fin touched her hand with his webby finger. "Real friends never truly say goodbye. Remember—magic lives in the heart of anyone who believes."

As the pyramid sank beneath the water, Fin waved until he disappeared into the ripples.

That winter, Lily visited the pool every day, even in the cold. She'd whisper stories to the frozen surface, hoping Fin could hear. And when summer returned, the water began to shimmer.

A familiar golden pyramid rose from the depths, and Fin's voice echoed through the warm breeze: "I knew you'd come back!"

Lily learned that friendship, like magic, never fades. It just waits beneath the surface, ready to shine again.
