The Secret Pyramid of Paws
Barnaby the golden retriever loved to dig. Every afternoon, he'd tunnel through the garden while Mittens the orange tabby cat watched from her favorite branch, purring with amusement.
"One day you'll dig all the way to China," Mittens teased, her tail dangling like a fuzzy rope.
Barnaby didn't care. He loved the mystery of what lay beneath.
Suddenly, his paws struck something hard. Not a rock. Not a root. Something smooth and ancient.
Mittens leaped down, her emerald eyes widening. "Barnaby, what is that?"
Together they uncovered a miniature pyramid, no bigger than a shoebox, glowing with rainbow light. Symbols covered its surface, shimmering like tiny stars.
"It's a pyramid!" Barnaby barked softly. "And look — there's a slot shaped like a vitamin!"
Indeed, carved into the stone was a perfect vitamin-shaped indentation.
Mittens remembered something. "The old stories my mother told me. About the Health Pyramid that appears only to true friends. It needs the Vitamin of Friendship to open."
Barnaby's tail stopped wagging. "But where do we find a Vitamin of Friendship?"
Mittens touched her nose to his. "Silly dog. We make it."
She explained: "The Vitamin of Friendship is made from shared moments. Like when you share your bone with me. When I chase leaves for you. When we sleep curled together in the sun."
Barnaby understood. "Our friendship IS the vitamin!"
Mittens nodded. "Together, we concentrate on our happiest memories."
The dog and cat sat side by side, paws touching, thinking of every adventure they'd shared. The snow day they'd built a fort together. The time Barnaby had protected Mittens from a thunderstorm. The afternoon Mittens had groomed Barnaby's fur until it shone.
A soft light formed between them, glowing brighter and brighter. It shaped itself into a brilliant orange pill — the Vitamin of Friendship.
With a trembling paw, Barnaby placed it into the pyramid's slot.
The ground rumbled. The pyramid opened, revealing not treasure, but a mirror. Inside floated the message: TRUE FRIENDSHIP IS THE GREATEST TREASURE OF ALL.
Barnaby and Mittens looked at each other, understanding completely.
The pyramid vanished, but something remained. Both animals felt stronger, braver, and healthier — as if they'd swallowed magic itself.
"That was our vitamin," Mittens whispered. "The one we earned."
Barnaby wagged his tail. "And we'll keep earning it every day together."
They curled up under the oak tree, the best friends in the whole wide world, ready for whatever adventures tomorrow might bring.
