The Secret Pool Party

Lily was the best **spy** in the whole neighborhood. At least, she thought so. Every afternoon, she would hide behind the tall **palm** tree in her backyard and watch the children swimming in the community **pool** beyond the fence. She'd make up stories about their adventures—the underwater tea parties, the dolphin races, the treasure hunts in the deep end.

But one sweltering Tuesday, Lily spotted something new. A scruffy orange **cat** sat by the pool's edge, dipping one paw cautiously into the water. Over and over, the cat splashed, as if testing something important.

Lily crept closer, her spy instincts tingling. The cat turned and looked straight at her with knowing amber eyes. Then, to Lily's amazement, the cat spoke—but not with words. Instead, pictures appeared in Lily's mind: a magical underwater kingdom where pool toys came alive at night, having marvelous adventures when no humans were watching.

"I'm Cleo," the cat's thoughts said. "And I need your help."

Lily's heart raced. A real mission! "What kind of help?"

"A **friend**," Cleo replied. "Someone who believes in magic. The pool kingdom's in trouble. The Mean Green Slime Monster escaped from the filter, and only a human's imagination can defeat it."

Lily nodded solemnly. This was the most important spy mission ever.

That night, under starlight, Lily followed Cleo to the pool. The water glowed with swirling rainbow colors. They jumped in together—but instead of getting wet, they found themselves in a magical underwater world.

The Mean Green Slime Monster was oozing toward the castle of pool toys! Lily thought quickly. She imagined a giant sponge shaped like a friendly whale. POOF! It appeared and slurped up all the slime.

The toys cheered! They had a celebration with fizzy root beer and dance music.

"You're not just a spy," Cleo told her later. "You're a friend to the magic."

Lily learned that the best adventures aren't just watching—they're joining in. And sometimes, the most wonderful friends come in surprising packages.

Now every full moon, Lily returns to the pool for secret adventures with Cleo and the magical toys. Being a spy is fun. But being a friend is magic.
