The Secret Pool of Sunshine

Lila lived in a house with a big backyard, but her favorite spot was the hidden corner behind the old oak tree. That's where she discovered something magical on the first day of summer vacation.

A tiny pool shimmered there, no bigger than a bathtub, glowing with the most beautiful orange light imaginable. It sparkled like liquid sunset, and when Lila dipped her finger in, warmth spread through her whole body like a hug from the sun itself.

"Sam! You have to see this!" she called, running to fetch her best friend.

Sam came running, his eyes widening at the sight of the glowing orange pool. "What IS it?" he whispered.

"I think it's sunshine vitamins," Lila said wisely, remembering what her grandmother had told her about how vitamins make things strong and healthy. "This must be where sunshine comes to rest!"

They spent all afternoon experimenting. When they dipped a wilted daisy into the pool, its petals perked up immediately, turning bright orange instead of white. A tired butterfly flew through the mist rising from the water and suddenly zoomed around like it had wings made of lightning.

"This pool is magic!" Sam laughed, dipping his hands in. "I feel stronger already!"

But the most magical thing happened when Mrs. Higgins' grumpy old cat wandered by. Usually, the cat hissed at everyone, but when it stepped near the pool, its fur turned the softest orange, and suddenly it was purring like a motorboat, rubbing against their legs.

"The sunshine vitamins made it happy!" Lila realized. "That's what this pool does—it makes things strong AND happy!"

All summer long, Lila and Sam visited their secret pool. They never told anyone else, because some magic is meant to be shared only with your best friend. They learned that the best kind of magic isn't about changing things into something new—it's about helping things become their happiest, strongest selves.

And whenever they felt tired or grumpy, they'd visit their orange pool, knowing that a little sunshine vitamin was exactly what they needed.
