The Secret Pool Messenger
Lily sat by the old swimming pool in her backyard, dipping her toes into the cool water. The pool hadn't been used in years, and lily pads now floated across its surface like tiny green islands.
"Psst! Hey there!" a voice squeaked.
Lily jumped. A tiny tree frog perched on a nearby lily pad, wearing what looked like a small leaf hat.
"I'm Finn," the frog said. "I'm a friend. And sort of a spy for the magical creatures who live here."
Lily giggled. "A spy frog? That's silly!"
"Not silly at all," Finn said seriously. "I watch over this special pool. It's a gateway between worlds. Every full moon, magical creatures gather here to tell stories and share adventures."
Finn hopped onto a palm frond leaning over the water's edge. "Tonight's the full moon. Want to see something amazing?"
Lily nodded eagerly.
As the moon rose, the pool began to glow. Tiny lights sparkled beneath the water's surface like underwater stars.
"Reach your hand in," Finn whispered.
Lily hesitated, then dipped her palm into the glowing water. Ripples spread outward, and suddenly, the water showed her something—creatures dancing on lily pads, fish trailing rainbows, frogs playing tiny instruments.
"This pool connects all backyard pools everywhere," Finn explained. "When children believe in magic, these pools become doorways. We're friends, Lily. And friends share secrets."
Lily watched in wonder as tiny faeries flew up from the water, leaving trails of sparkle. One landed on her nose.
"Believe in magic," the faerie chimed, "and magic will always find you."
Lily closed her eyes and made a wish. When she opened them, the glow was fading, but Finn was still there.
"Come back tomorrow night," Finn said. "The water remembers those who believe."
Lily ran inside, her heart full of wonder. Some secrets were meant to be kept, and some friendships were worth protecting. The old pool wasn't just a pool anymore—it was a magical promise, kept safe between friends.
