The Secret Orange Pool

friendorangepool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the mysterious stone pool in the backyard. Grandma called it her wishing pool, but Lily had never made a wish there. She was too afraid.

One hot summer afternoon, Lily sat by the water's edge, eating the juiciest orange she'd ever tasted. As she peeled back the bright skin, something magical happened — a single drop of orange juice fell into the pool.

Suddenly, the water began to glow with golden light! The ripples turned into tiny sparkling fish that swam toward her, their scales shimmering like sunset.

"Hello!" a small voice bubbled up from the water.

Lily gasped as a creature emerged — a water sprite with hair like flowing rivers and eyes like deep pools. "I'm Marina! I've been waiting for someone to share an orange with me!"

"You wanted my orange?" Lily asked, holding out the fruit.

"Not just any orange," Marina explained. "It has to be given with friendship."

Lily smiled and split the orange, sharing the sweet sections with her new friend. As they ate, the pool transformed into a magical doorway. Lily saw an entire kingdom beneath the surface — glowing crystals, singing merfolk, and flowers that bloomed underwater.

"Will you visit me again?" Marina asked.

"Every day," Lily promised, "and I'll bring more friends to share oranges with too!"

From that day on, the pool wasn't mysterious anymore. It was magical — not because of wishes, but because Lily had learned that the best magic happens when you share with a friend.

And sometimes, all it takes is an orange and an open heart to discover a whole new world.
