The Secret Orange Pool

Lily loved being a spy. Every Saturday, she put on her special spy sunglasses (her dad's old ones) and crept around her backyard, looking for mysteries. But the biggest mystery was the old swimming pool behind the fence. Nobody had used it for years.

One hot afternoon, Lily was spying through the wooden fence when she saw something strange. An orange glow was coming from the pool! Not just any orange - it sparkled like tiny stars.

Lily's spy heart beat fast. She found a loose board in the fence and peeked through.

What she saw made her gasp. A small orange creature no bigger than her hand was splashing in the pool! It had shimmering scales that looked like sunset colors, and its fins glowed like tiny lanterns.

The creature looked sad. It swam in circles, then tried to jump out of the pool, but its little fins weren't strong enough.

Lily knew what spies did. They helped people who needed them.

She carefully climbed through the fence. The orange creature hid behind a leaf.

"Don't be scared," Lily whispered. "I'm a friendly spy."

Slowly, the creature peeked out. Its big eyes sparkled like the orange light around it.

Lily gently scooped up the little creature in her hands. It felt warm, like sunshine. She carried it to the creek beyond their yard, where the water flowed free and clear.

"Go home," she said softly.

The orange creature swam a happy circle, then did something magical. It splashed water onto Lily's arm, and suddenly she saw a beautiful orange tattoo appear - a tiny fish that shimmered and glowed.

"Thank you," the creature seemed to say without speaking.

From that day on, Lily was still a spy. But now she had a secret mark on her arm that reminded her: the best spies don't just solve mysteries. They make friends and help those in need.

And sometimes, when she visited the creek, she'd see a flash of orange in the water, and she'd wave to her very first spy friend.
