The Secret of the Swimming Zombie

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's farm. Every summer, she spent weeks exploring the fields, climbing trees, and swimming in the crystal-clear creek that wound through the property. But this summer, something strange was happening.

Every evening at sunset, Lily spotted a green figure shambling toward the swimming hole. At first, she was terrified. It looked like a zombie from her storybooks! But her curiosity was stronger than her fear.

One warm afternoon, Lily hid behind the old oak tree and watched. The zombie creature waded into the water, but instead of scary moans, it hummed a gentle melody. Its green skin sparkled in the sunlight like emeralds.

"Hello?" Lily called out, stepping from her hiding spot.

The creature jumped, splashing water everywhere. "Oh! I didn't see you there!" It spoke in a friendly, squeaky voice. "I'm Zell, and I'm not a zombie. I'm a Garden Guardian!"

Lily laughed. "But you look so... green and bumpy."

"That's because I'm made of moss and magic!" Zell explained. "I'm collecting magic vitamins for the plants. Look!" He held up a handful of glowing pebbles. "These make the vegetables grow extra tasty."

"You mean like the vitamins my mom gives me?" Lily asked.

"Exactly! But these are special garden vitamins. Would you like to help?"

Lily spent the rest of the summer swimming with Zell, collecting magical vitamins, and learning that sometimes the scariest-looking things can be the kindest. The garden grew better than ever, and Lily discovered that friendship comes in all shapes, sizes, and colors — even bright green mossy ones!

That autumn, when Lily had to return home, Zell gave her a pouch of garden vitamins. "Whenever you miss our swimming adventures, plant one of these," he said. "Something wonderful will grow."

And he was right. Now, every time Lily sees something beautiful bloom, she remembers her green friend and the most important lesson of all: never judge someone by how they look — judge them by how they treat you.
