The Secret of the Starlight Pyramid

Lily was bored. Her parents were at a meeting, and she was stuck by the hotel pool in Egypt. The sun blazed overhead, making everything shimmer with heat.

"There's nothing to do," she sighed, flopping onto a lounge chair. She pulled out her iphone and started playing games, but even that wasn't fun anymore. That's when she noticed something strange.

A small lizard had scurried under a nearby palm tree, and where it disappeared, the sand seemed to glow. Lily's heart raced. She'd read about pharaohs and curses, but this was real adventure calling.

She crept toward the palm tree, her iphone forgotten in her hand. As she knelt, she saw it—a tiny golden pyramid no bigger than her thumb, half-buried in the sand. It pulsed with light, and somehow she knew: it was made of real starlight.

"Please," Lily whispered, "show me your magic."

The pyramid glowed brighter. Visions filled her mind—children sleeping peacefully, dreams protected by tiny guardians who collected starlight in this very pyramid. For thousands of years, it had kept nightmares away.

But then she understood: the pyramid was fading. Its magic was running out because children had stopped believing in wonder, stopped looking up at stars, stopped imagining impossible things. They were too busy with screens and games.

Lily made a choice. She placed her iphone beside the pyramid, screen glowing with its own light. "Take this," she said. "Use its light to keep the magic alive."

The pyramid absorbed the phone's energy and blazed brilliantly. Sand swirled around her, and when it settled, both pyramid and phone were gone. In their place lay a small, perfect crystal star.

That night, Lily dreamed of flying among constellations. And everywhere she went afterward, she noticed children sleeping more soundly, waking with stories of magical dreams. The smallest pyramid had taught her the biggest lesson: magic isn't gone from the world—it's just waiting for someone brave enough to believe.

Now Lily carries that crystal star everywhere. Sometimes, on the darkest nights, it still glows, reminding her that even the smallest things can hold the greatest power.
