The Secret of the Sphinx's Pool

Lily and Ben loved exploring the old park behind their houses. One hot afternoon, while chasing a butterfly, they stumbled upon a hidden path they'd never seen before.

The path led to a sparkling **pool** that glowed with soft blue light. But the most amazing thing was what stood beside it—a small stone **sphinx** no bigger than a garden statue, with emerald eyes that suddenly twinkled.

"Welcome, young seekers," the sphinx spoke in a voice like gentle chimes. "I am Cleo, guardian of the Wishing Pool. For generations, children have forgotten magic exists. But you two still believe."

Lily gasped. "You're real!"

Cleo's stone tail swished. "Indeed. And I have something for you." From behind her wing, she pulled out two golden **padel** rackets and a ball that shimmered like stardust. "This is no ordinary game. The Magic Padel reveals your heart's true desire."

"What does that mean?" Ben asked, eyes wide.

"Play, and discover."

The children hit the magical ball back and forth. With every hit, visions appeared—flying dragons, candy clouds, underwater kingdoms. But when Lily hit the ball especially high, she saw something that made her gasp.

"Cleo! I saw my grandma! She used to play padel with me before she got too sick to leave bed."

Ben's ball hit showed his wish too—a dog of his own, since his family couldn't afford one.

Cleo nodded wisely. "The pool grants one wish to those who play with pure joy in their hearts. But here's the secret: your wishes already came true."

"They did?" they asked together.

"Lily, your grandma gave you her love of games and stories. That magic lives in you forever. Ben, you don't need a dog to be loyal, brave, and true—you already have those gifts."

The sphinx dipped her paw into the glowing pool, and two small charms floated up—one with a padel, one with a sphinx.

"Take these. Whenever you feel doubt, remember: magic isn't about getting what you want. It's about discovering what's already inside you."

Lily and Ben held the charms tight, understanding something wonderful. The real magic was friendship, imagination, and believing in yourself.

"Will we see you again?" Ben asked.

Cleo's emerald eyes sparkled. "Whenever you remember that magic lives in your heart. Now go—your families are waiting."

Hand in hand, they ran home, already planning their next adventure, knowing the most magical things are the ones we carry inside us always.
