The Secret of the Orange Pyramid
Mia loved visiting her grandmother's house, especially the dusty attic filled with mysterious treasures. One rainy Saturday, while exploring behind an old trunk, she discovered something she'd never noticed before—a tiny golden pyramid no bigger than her hand, glowing softly in the dim light.
"What are you?" Mia whispered, reaching out.
The pyramid suddenly split open like a flower, revealing a single orange inside. But this wasn't any ordinary orange—it sparkled like it contained captured sunshine, and its scent was sweeter than anything Mia had ever experienced.
"I've been waiting for you," said a small voice. Mia jumped as the orange rolled toward her, then sprouted tiny legs and arms made of peel.
"You can talk!"
"I'm Pip," said the orange creature. "And this pyramid is my home. It's where the special vitamin grows—the vitamin of friendship."
"Vitamins are for staying healthy," Mia said, confused.
"Not this one," Pip explained. "This vitamin appears when someone truly needs a friend. It grows in oranges inside magical pyramids hidden around the world, waiting for lonely hearts to find them."
Mia thought about the new girl at school, Aisha, who always sat alone at lunch. "I know someone who needs this vitamin."
Pip smiled (oranges can smile when they're magical). "Then that's where it belongs. But remember—the magic only works if you give it freely, without expecting anything in return."
Mia carefully carried the glowing orange home, and on Monday, she approached Aisha at recess. "Would you like to share my orange?" she asked, her heart racing.
Aisha's eyes lit up. As they shared the magical fruit, something wonderful happened. The courtyard seemed brighter. Laughter came easier. And by the time the bell rang, Mia had gained something more precious than any magical vitamin—a real friend.
That evening, Mia checked her pocket. The tiny golden pyramid had appeared again, already glowing with the next friendship vitamin, ready for when someone else needed a friend.
"True friends," Pip whispered from inside, "are the greatest magic of all."
