The Secret of the Moon Pool

Lily loved running through her grandmother's garden at twilight, when the fireflies began their nightly dance. But tonight, something magical happened. As she rounded the old oak tree, she spotted a mysterious pool she'd never seen before.

The water glowed with soft silver light, reflecting the full moon above. Lily leaned closer, peering into the shimmering depths. That's when she saw him—a tiny frog with bright golden eyes, peeking from a lily pad.

"Are you a spy?" Lily whispered, giggling.

The frog puffed up his tiny chest. "I am Finnegan, guardian of the Moon Pool! And you, young one, have discovered our secret."

Lily gasped as the pool began to ripple. More frogs appeared, each wearing a tiny crown made of flower petals. They explained that the Moon Pool only appeared to children with pure hearts, granting them one wish.

"My wish," Lily said thoughtfully, "is for this magical pool to never disappear."

The frogs croaked with joy. Suddenly, grandmother called from the porch. "Lily, time for dinner!"

Lily turned back, but the Moon Pool had vanished—except for one small silver lily pad in her hand.

Every night after, Lily returned, running to the same spot. And sometimes, if she was very lucky, she'd catch Finnegan's golden eyes watching from the shadows, reminding her that magic exists for those who believe.

The real treasure wasn't the wish at all. It was knowing that wonder lives everywhere, waiting for curious hearts to find it.
