The Secret of the Golden Pyramid
Barnaby was no ordinary dog. While other puppies chased their tails, Barnaby pretended to be a super spy. He wore his special detective collar (a sparkly blue bandana) and practiced sneaking through the tall grass in his backyard. His best friend, Lily, would giggle as Barnaby crept toward her, his tail wagging furiously despite his serious spy face.
One sunny afternoon, Barnaby was running through the garden when he spotted something strange. A thick black cable snaked through the bushes, disappearing into the old oak tree. Barnaby's ears perked up. A real spy mystery!
He followed the cable, nose to the ground, sniffing carefully. The cable wound around the tree trunk and down into a hidden hole beneath the roots. Barnaby squeezed through and found himself in a magical underground chamber. In the center stood a miniature golden pyramid, glowing with soft rainbow light.
An ancient turtle named Tobias emerged from behind the pyramid. "Welcome, brave spy," he said kindly. "This is the Pyramid of Wishes. It grants one wish to anyone pure of heart who finds it."
Barnaby thought hard. He could wish for endless bones. Or the ability to speak human language. Or a spy jet with turbo boosters.
But then he thought of Lily, who had been sad because her grandmother was sick in the hospital. Barnaby wished with all his heart for her grandmother to get better.
The pyramid flared bright golden. The cable aboveground pulsed with light, carrying Barnaby's wish into the world. Tobias smiled. "You wished for someone else, Barnaby. That makes you a true hero."
When Barnaby emerged from the tree, Lily ran to hug him. Her eyes sparkled with happy tears. "Barnaby! Grandma just woke up feeling much better! The doctors call it a miracle!"
Barnaby licked her face, his spy tail thumping proudly. Some secrets were worth keeping, especially when friendship was the greatest magic of all.
