The Secret of the Emerald Sea

Lila was the pickiest eater in all of Coral Cove. When her mother served **spinach** for dinner, she would push it around her plate, making little green mountains.

"But it's good for you!" Mama would say. "It's full of vitamins that help you grow strong."

Lila didn't want to be strong. She wanted to be magical.

One evening, while walking along the beach at sunset, Lila spotted something shimmering in the tide pools. A tiny sea turtle with an emerald shell was stuck in a shallow pool!

"Help me," the turtle squeaked. "The tide is going out!"

Lila had never heard a turtle talk before. She carefully lifted the little creature and carried it to the ocean.

"Thank you!" said the turtle. "I'm Pearl. What's your name?"

"I'm Lila. Can you really talk?"

"Only to special children," Pearl winked. "Would you like to see my home? The Emerald Kingdom is beautiful this time of day. But you'll need to come **swimming** with me."

"But I don't have my swimsuit!" Lila protested.

Pearl laughed and tapped Lila's nose with her flipper. Suddenly, Lila could breathe underwater! Her clothes became weightless, and she dove beneath the waves.

The Emerald Kingdom was more magical than anything Lila had imagined. Seaweed forests glowed with tiny lights, and fish with scales like rainbows darted through coral castles.

Pearl led her to a magnificent underwater garden where the most beautiful sea vegetables grew.

"This is where I get my strength," Pearl explained, nibbling on some bright green leaves. "In the ocean, we know that the best foods are the ones that make you shine."

Lila tried some and gasped. "It tastes... like adventure!"

"That's the secret ingredient," Pearl said. "Every **vitamin** is like a tiny piece of magic that helps you do amazing things."

Lila swam and played until the stars came out. When she returned to the beach, Pearl gave her a special seashell.

"Whenever you eat something healthy, hold this shell," Pearl whispered. "Remember: the best adventures come from being strong enough to have them."

That night, Lila ate every bite of her spinach. And somehow, it did taste like adventure.
