The Secret of Starlight Mountain
Lily loved exploring the forest behind her house. Every day after school, she would wander through the tall pine trees, listening to the birds sing and watching the squirrels play. But one sunny afternoon, she discovered something magical.
Deep in the woods, Lily found a golden path that shimmered like moonlight. It led her up a mountain she had never noticed before. At the top sat a cozy cottage made of giant mushrooms.
"Hello!" called a voice. Out stepped a talking bear wearing a blue vest and glasses. "I'm Barnaby. Welcome to Starlight Mountain!"
Lily's eyes grew wide. "You can talk!"
"Of course!" Barnaby chuckled. "Would you like to meet my best friend?"
Behind the cottage, a massive creature with gleaming golden horns was painting a rainbow across the sky. "This is Bella," Barnaby said proudly. "She's a starlight bull."
Bella lowered her head gently, and Lily patted her soft nose. "Nice to meet you!"
"Would you like to help us?" Barnaby asked. "We paint sunsets for the whole world, but today we need extra magic."
Lily nodded eagerly. Together, they mixed colors from flowers, sunlight, and dewdrops. Bella dipped her horns into the paint and swirled them through the clouds. The most beautiful sunset anyone had ever seen appeared — purple, pink, and gold all blended together.
"That's wonderful!" Lily clapped.
Barnaby smiled. "You know what makes this work? Friendship. Bella and I were lonely until we met each other. Now we have the best job in the world."
Lily looked at her new friends. "Can I come back tomorrow?"
"Every day," Bella said softly. "Friends are always welcome here."
As Lily walked home under the painted sky, she realized something important: the best adventures are the ones you share with friends, whether they're bears, bulls, or the kid who sits next to you in class.
And every sunset after that, Lily smiled, knowing her friends had made something beautiful just for her.
