The Secret of Papaya Bay

papayaspyorangeswimming

Lila was a curious little fish who loved **swimming** near the surface of the warm blue water. But what made Lila special was that she was the best **spy** in the whole ocean! She would peek just her eyes above the water to watch the children playing on the beach, their laughter floating like music on the breeze.

One sunny afternoon, Lila spotted something unusual. A girl with hair the color of a ripe **orange** sat alone by the shore, crying softly. Lila had never seen anyone look so sad. She decided to investigate.

Swimming closer, Lila saw that the girl was holding something round and golden—a **papaya**! The girl had been crying because she had dropped her favorite fruit into the water. Lila's eyes widened. Papayas were the most delicious treats in the world, but she couldn't bear to see someone so unhappy.

"Wait here!" Lila wanted to say, but fish can't speak. Instead, she dove deep and found the papaya resting on a sandy patch below. With a mighty splash, she pushed it back toward the surface!

The girl's eyes grew wide as the golden fruit bobbed up. "Did you do that?" she whispered, amazed. Lila splashed happily, and suddenly, the girl wasn't sad anymore.

"Thank you, little fish," she said, breaking the papaya in half. "Let's share!" She tossed a piece into the water, and Lila caught it in her mouth. It was sweeter than anything she had ever tasted!

From that day on, Lila and the girl became the best of friends. Every afternoon, they would meet by the shore—Lila swimming in the cool water, the girl sitting on the warm sand. Sometimes she brought orange slices, sometimes papaya pieces. And Lila, once just a curious spy of the surface world, had found something much better than secrets: a true friend.
