The Secret of Moonlight Bay

spypalmwaterbullswimming

Lila was the best **spy** in all of Moonlight Bay. Every evening, she would climb the oldest **palm** tree on the beach and watch the ocean come alive with magic. From her perch, she had discovered that the waves whispered secrets and the stars danced on the **water**.

One particularly starry night, Lila spotted something extraordinary. A great, golden shape was **swimming** toward the shore—something that looked like a **bull** made entirely of starlight and sea foam!

Lila held her breath. The star-bull walked onto the sand, its hooves leaving glowing prints in the moonlight. It looked sad, its luminous eyes searching for something.

"Are you lost?" Lila called out, climbing down from her tree.

The star-bull turned. Its voice sounded like wind chimes and ocean waves together. "I am Taurus, guardian of the Constellation Herd. My herd has swum across the galaxy's cosmic ocean for thousands of years, but tonight I lost my way. The morning star will rise soon, and if I don't return to the sky by then, I'll fade away forever."

Lila's heart swelled with courage. "I can help you! I know every path in Moonlight Bay."

But Taurus shook his golden head. "Only those who can swim among the stars can guide me. And only those who believe in the impossible."

"I believe!" Lila declared. "I believe in magic and friendship and helping those who need it!"

Taurus smiled, and suddenly Lila felt light as a dandelion seed. The bull lowered his golden horn, and she climbed onto his back. Together they leaped into the sky, **swimming** through stardust and comet tails.

Lila had never felt so free. She saw the world from above—tiny houses like shoeboxes, cars like glowworms, and the ocean reflecting all the stars of the universe.

"There!" Lila pointed to a twinkling group of stars. "Your family!"

Taurus galloped toward them, and as he joined his herd, he transformed into beautiful constellation form. But before he faded completely, he tapped Lila's forehead with his nose.

"Thank you, little spy," he whispered. "You didn't just watch from the sidelines—you stepped into the magic. That's the bravest thing of all."

Lila woke up in her bed the next morning, wondering if it had all been a dream. But when she looked at her hand, there was a tiny, glowing star-shaped mark on her **palm**.

Now, Lila still climbs her **palm** tree to watch the ocean. But she no longer just spies on magic. She believes in it. And on especially starry nights, she waves to Taurus, and he winks back, his constellation shining just a little brighter than all the others.
