The Secret of Lightning Hill
Lily and Sam loved exploring the woods behind their house. Every Saturday, they'd go running up Lightning Hill, named for the brilliant flashes that sometimes danced across the sky during summer storms.
One afternoon, they noticed something strange. A thick black cable stretched across the forest floor, disappearing into an old oak tree. "What's that?" Sam wondered.
Lily crouched down. "I think someone is trying to spy on the magical creatures!"
The two friends followed the cable carefully, stepping over crunchy leaves and ducking under branches. At the end of the cable, they found a tiny door in the tree trunk, no bigger than a teacup.
Suddenly, a sparkly blue lizard popped out! "You found me!" it chirped. "I'm Sparky, the lightning keeper!"
Sparky explained that his job was to collect lightning from storms and store it safely in glowing crystals that lit up the forest at night. The cable was his special invention to catch lightning without getting hurt.
"But I've been so lonely," Sparky said sadly. "Nobody ever visits me."
Lily smiled. "We'll be your friends! We can help you catch lightning together!"
From that day on, Lily and Sam visited Sparky every weekend. They learned how to hold up special copper cables during storms (always from a safe distance!) to help Sparky catch the dazzling lightning bolts. The three friends worked as a team, and the forest never had to worry about dark nights again.
Sometimes the best adventures happen when you're curious enough to follow a mystery — and kind enough to make a new friend along the way.
