The Secret of Crystal Creek

waterzombiebull

Lily lived on a farm with the gentlest bull she'd ever known — Barnaby, who loved eating apples from her hand and letting her pet his soft nose. But near their farm flowed Crystal Creek, where the villagers whispered about a mysterious zombie.

They said it was a scary green creature that lived in the water, dragging things down into the depths. Lily shivered whenever she heard the stories.

One hot afternoon, Lily sat by the creek with Barnaby. She dropped her favorite bracelet into the rushing water. Before she could cry, she saw something — something green and lumpy — rise slowly from the surface.

It WAS the zombie! But it didn't look scary. It looked sleepy and kind, with big gentle eyes and a smile that stretched across its face. Clutched in its webbed hand was her bracelet.

"I... I thought you were a monster," Lily whispered.

The creature shrugged, bubbles floating from its mouth. "Everyone calls me zombie because I'm green and slow. But I'm actually a water sprite. I collect lost things so people can find them again."

Barnaby the bull snorted happily and nudged the creature, who giggled. Lily laughed too — the scary zombie was really just a friend!

That day, Lily learned an important lesson: Things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes the scariest stories hide the kindest hearts.

From then on, Lily and Barnaby visited their friend at Crystal Creek every week. And whenever anyone lost something precious in the water, the zombie was there to help.
