The Secret Moon Pool
Lily discovered the hidden pool on a Tuesday night when the moon was full and silver. It sat at the bottom of Grandma's garden, glowing like a giant pearl behind climbing roses and tangled vines.
"No one has found the Moon Pool in fifty years," a tiny voice squeaked.
Lily gasped. A small green frog sat on a lily pad, wearing what looked like a tiny crown made of twigs. "I'm Prince Pip," he said. "And you've found the most magical place in the world."
The water shimmered with colors that changed like rainbows. Lily wanted to swim, but she felt scared. "I'm not a good swimmer," she admitted. "What if I sink?"
Prince Pip hopped onto her knee. "The pool knows brave hearts. But first, you must try Grandma's special spinach."
Lily wrinkled her nose. Spinach was her least favorite food. But Prince Pip led her to a garden patch where emerald leaves grew bigger than her hand. "This is Moon Spinach," he explained. "It grows only where magic touches the earth."
She took a tiny bite. It didn't taste yucky at all — it tasted like starlight and honey, crisp and sweet and wonderful.
"Every leaf contains a bravery vitamin," Prince Pip said with a wink. "Only for those willing to try new things."
Lily felt warmth spread through her, like drinking sunshine. She stepped toward the pool, and the water parted for her, welcoming as a hug. She splashed and floated and discovered she could swim beautifully, as if the water wanted to be her friend.
From that night on, Lily visited the Moon Pool whenever she could. She learned that trying new things — even spinach — could lead to the most wonderful adventures. And sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is take one small bite, one small step, into something unknown and magical.
The pool still glows at Grandma's house. Maybe somewhere near you, a hidden pool is waiting, full of magic and friendship, for someone brave enough to find it.
