The Secret Magic Pool

Lily loved summer evenings best of all. While other children slept, she tiptoed to the backyard pool, where the water turned to liquid silver under moonlight. This was when the magic happened.

One sticky July night, Lily discovered something amazing. Her dad's old iPhone, forgotten on the pool table, began to glow. Not like a normal screen — but with sparkles that floated into the air like tiny fireflies.

A thick charging cable curled beside it, lifting its head like a friendly snake. "Hello!" it whispered, and Lily gasped with wonder.

"You can talk?"

"Only during magic hour," the cable replied. "Want to see something incredible?"

Before Lily could answer, the pool water rippled. Up rose a small green figure with mossy hair and kind purple eyes. It looked like a zombie from stories, but instead of being scary, it offered Lily a hand made of polished emeralds.

"Don't be frightened," said the creature. "I'm Zed, the pool's guardian. I've watched you swimming here all summer. You have the kindest heart."

Lily's fear melted away. Zed wasn't scary at all — he was magical and lonely, just like she sometimes felt when other kids made fun of her wild imagination.

"Tonight," Zed announced, "the pool becomes a portal to anywhere you dream. Where would you like to go?"

Lily's eyes widened. "Everywhere!"

The iPhone projected a map of stars onto the water's surface. The cable transformed into a rainbow bridge. Zed took Lily's hand, and together they stepped into the pool.

But they weren't swimming in water anymore — they were gliding through galaxies of purple and gold! They visited kingdoms made of candy, forests where trees sang lullabies, and oceans filled with glowing jellyfish that giggled.

"This is the best adventure ever!" Lily laughed, spinning through starlight.

All too soon, the first hint of dawn painted the sky. Zed squeezed Lily's hand. "Thank you for believing in magic. Remember, the greatest adventures live in your imagination."

As the pool returned to ordinary water, Lily found herself back on the grass. The iPhone lay silent, the cable still as regular rope. But her pocket held something new — a tiny emerald that sparkled like Zed's eyes.

Lily smiled, hugging the secret close to her heart. Some magic, she knew, would stay with her forever, waiting for the next moonlit night.
