The Secret in the Sand
Lily loved building sandcastles. Every day, she and her dog Barker ran to the beach, Barker's golden fur glowing like sunshine in the warm air.
One Tuesday, something magical happened. As Lily dug deeper, her shovel hit something hard—not a shell, not a rock, but something smooth and mysterious. She pulled at the object, and suddenly, a miniature pyramid rose from the sand, sparkling with tiny crystals that caught the sunlight like a thousand tiny stars.
"Wow!" Lily whispered, her eyes wide.
Barker barked excitedly, his tail wagging so hard it sprayed sand everywhere. But then something odd happened. The pyramid's crystal door creaked open, and out stumbled a little green figure with messy hair and crooked teeth.
"A zombie!" Lily gasped, stepping back in surprise. But instead of being scary, the little zombie looked sad and lonely, its big eyes filled with tears.
"I've been asleep for a hundred years," the zombie said softly. "Everyone forgot about me."
Lily's heart melted. She knelt down and extended her palm. "I'm Lily. This is Barker. Want to play?"
The zombie's face lit up. It had never met a friend before! The three of them spent the afternoon building the most magnificent sandcastle the beach had ever seen, with towers that reached for the sky and a moat filled with seashells.
As the sun began to set, the zombie whispered, "Thank you for seeing me, not just what I look like."
Lily smiled, hugging her new friend. "Sometimes the best magic comes from being kind."
That night, Lily learned an important lesson: true friends don't judge by appearances—they judge by heart. And somewhere, under the moonlight, the little pyramid sparkled, waiting for more magical adventures to begin.
