The Secret Garden Spy
Lily loved running through her grandmother's enormous garden. Between the sunflowers and pumpkin patches, she played her favorite game: Secret Garden Spy.
One afternoon, while peeking through a fence of climbing beans, Lily spotted something strange. A slow-moving figure shuffled between the rows of spinach plants. It had green skin, leaves sprouting from its head, and moved like a sleepy robot.
"A zombie!" Lily gasped, hiding behind a tomato plant. But this zombie didn't want to eat brains — it was carefully picking spinach leaves and tucking them into a little basket.
Lily's spy curiosity took over. She crept closer, hiding behind sunflowers until she was close enough to hear the creature humming a happy tune.
"Excuse me," Lily said, stepping out from her hiding spot. "Are you... a zombie?"
The creature jumped, dropping a spinach leaf. "Oh my! Yes, I'm Sprout the Garden Zombie. But I'm not scary — I'm magical!"
Sprout explained that he appeared whenever vegetables needed extra care. He sang special songs to make plants grow strong and healthy. The spinach patch was his favorite because it made children strong like him.
"Would you like to help me?" Sprout asked.
Lily nodded eagerly. Together, they watered the plants, and Sprout taught her his magical growing song. They worked until sunset, Sprout shuffling slowly and Lily running between rows with the watering can.
"You're a good spy," Sprout said. "You found the garden's secret. But now you must help me protect it."
From that day on, Lily became the Garden's best guardian. Every afternoon, she'd find Sprout among the vegetables, caring for plants and singing magic songs. And when her grandmother wondered why her garden grew so beautifully, Lily just winked.
Some secrets are worth keeping — especially magical ones with spinach-loving zombie friends.
