The Secret Garden Game

Lily pressed her eye to the hole in the fence. She was the best spy in her neighborhood — or at least, she tried to be. Every Saturday morning, she peeked through the old wooden fence behind Mr. Bramble's house, wondering what secrets lay beyond.

Today, something incredible happened. A pair of gentle brown eyes looked back at her.

"Hello?" Lily whispered, her heart beating fast.

The eyes belonged to a magnificent bull with golden spots on his coat. He didn't look scary at all. He looked... friendly.

"Would you like to play?" the bull asked in a deep, warm voice.

Lily gasped. The talking bull pushed open a hidden gate, revealing the most amazing garden she had ever seen. Trees with silver leaves stretched toward the sky. Flowers that changed color when she smiled lined the path. And in the center sat a tiny padel court with sparkling walls.

"I'm Barnaby," said the bull. "And this is the Garden of Wishes. But I haven't had anyone to play padel with in one hundred years."

Lily's eyes widened. "I can play! My dad teaches me padel."

The game was magical. Every time Lily hit the ball, it glowed different colors. Barnaby moved surprisingly fast for such a big animal, running across the court with light feet. They laughed and played until the sun began to set.

"You're wonderful," Barnaby said, smiling. "Would you like to try something special?"

He led her to a small patch of vibrant green plants. "This is wish spinach. One leaf makes something good come true. But only if you share it."

Lily thought carefully. She could wish for anything — a new bike, endless candy, or to become famous. But she looked at her new friend, who seemed so lonely in this beautiful garden all by himself.

"I wish my friends could meet you," she said, and ate the spinach leaf.

The next day, Lily brought her whole neighborhood to the hidden gate. Barnaby taught them all padel. They played until sunset, running and laughing in the magical garden. And every Saturday after that, the best spy in the neighborhood discovered that some secrets are too wonderful not to share.
