The Secret Garden Friends
Mia loved exploring behind the old oak tree in her backyard. One sunny afternoon, she found something peculiar—a thick black cable snaking through the grass like a sleeping snake. Where did it lead?
Following the cable, she pushed through a patch of tall weeds and discovered a tiny garden she'd never seen before. But the most amazing thing was standing right in the middle of it—a real bull! But this wasn't an ordinary bull. He had the kindest, gentlest eyes Mia had ever seen, and he was munching happily on a patch of bright green spinach.
"Hello there," the bull said softly.
Mia gasped. "You can talk!"
"Of course I can," the bull smiled. "I'm Barnaby, and this is my magical garden. Would you like some spinach? It gives you special dreams."
Mia's phone buzzed in her pocket—her mom's old iPhone she used to take pictures of nature. She remembered her mom said she could document discoveries. But then she had a thought: if she took photos, would she be a spy, stealing Barnaby's secrets?
"Are you going to tell everyone about me?" Barnaby asked, his big eyes worried. "Magical creatures must stay hidden."
Mia thought carefully. Some things were better as precious secrets shared between friends. "No, Barnaby. Some magic is just for us."
Barnaby's face lit up. "Thank you for being a true friend. Would you like to help me plant more spinach?"
Mia spent the afternoon gardening with Barnaby, learning that friendship wasn't about capturing moments—it was about making them together. And every time she visited, she left the iPhone at home. Some magic didn't need to be recorded to be real.
