The Secret Cable to the Clouds

Leo loved baseball more than anything. But he was the smallest player on his team, and his hits barely reached the infield. 'You'll grow into it,' his coach always said. But Leo wanted to be good NOW.

One afternoon, while chasing a stray ball behind the old TV shop, Leo noticed something strange—a thick black cable disappeared into the clouds. No one else seemed to see it. When Leo tugged gently, the cable hummed with magic.

Climbing hand over hand, Leo ascended past birds, past planes, into a kingdom made of cotton candy clouds. There, he met a tiny green dragon named Pip.

'I need help,' Leo explained. 'I want to hit home runs.'

Pip shook his snout. 'The secret isn't bigger muscles. Come.'

The dragon led Leo to a garden where emerald spinach leaves sparkled like jewels. 'This is courage spinach,' Pip explained. 'One bite makes you believe in yourself.'

Leo hesitated. He hated spinach. But he REALLY wanted to hit home runs. He took a tiny bite.

His heart glowed warm. Suddenly, he saw things differently—the baseball wasn't scary anymore. It was an adventure waiting to happen.

Pip handed him a shimmering baseball. 'Hit this.'

Leo swung with all his might, and the ball soared through the clouds, raining sparkles like fireworks.

'You didn't need spinach to be strong,' Pip whispered. 'You needed to believe you already were.'

Leo slid back down the cable, the warmth still in his chest. At his next game, he didn't eat spinach. He just remembered the warmth, the belief, the magic.

CRACK! Leo's baseball arced high, higher, HIGHER—a home run!

His team cheered. Coach blinked. 'What did you do differently?' Leo just smiled, touching his pocket where he kept a sparkling leaf from the clouds.

Sometimes, the strongest magic comes from believing in yourself—even when you're small.
