Lily crouched behind the oak tree, her orange cat Rusty beside her. Today they were spies on their most important mission ever.

"Stay low, Rusty," she whispered. The cat flicked his tail but stayed perfectly quiet.

Across the yard, Lily's best friend Sam was hiding behind the garden shed. He gave the secret signal: two taps on his knee. It was time to move.

Their target sat in the middle of the swimming pool — a bright red rubber bull that had somehow escaped during yesterday's pool party. Now it bobbed alone in the water, and their mission was to rescue it before Mom noticed it was missing from the party decorations.
