The Sea of Orange Stars
Luna lived in a tiny house by the ocean, where the sand was warm and the water sparkled like diamonds. Every morning, she would run barefoot across the beach, her curly hair streaming behind her like a dark cloud against the bright sky.
Between the dunes stood three tall palm trees that Luna called her guardians. Their rough trunks felt like friendly old hands, and their green fronds danced in the wind, whispering secrets to anyone patient enough to listen.
One evening, as the sun began to set, Luna noticed something unusual. The sky wasn't just turning pink and purple like it usually did. It was glowing a brilliant orange, the color of her favorite juice. The orange light spilled across the water, turning the waves into liquid sunshine.
Then she saw him—a small boy about her age, sitting on a rock in the middle of the ocean. But that wasn't the strange part. The strange part was that he was glowing orange too, like he was made of sunset.
Luna wasn't afraid. Instead, she started running toward the water, splashing into the waves, swimming as fast as her arms could pull her through the warm water. When she reached the rock, the boy smiled.
"I've been waiting for someone who loves the ocean as much as I do," he said. "My name is Sol, and I'm a star-child who fell from the orange sky. I need help getting back home."
Luna's eyes widened. "How can we help you return to the stars?"
"By making the biggest splash ever at exactly the right moment," Sol explained. "When the orange light touches the horizon, we must swim together to the middle of the bay and jump as high as we can. The water will carry me home."
So Luna and Sol swam to the center of the bay, their arms moving in perfect rhythm. Just as the orange sun dipped below the water, they leaped from the waves together, reaching toward the darkening sky. A beam of orange light caught Sol, lifting him upward like a bubble rising through water.
"Thank you, Luna!" he called, drifting higher. "Whenever you see an orange sunset, remember—friendship is the strongest magic in the universe!"
Luna swam back to shore, her heart full of wonder. That night, as she slept under the whispering palm trees, she dreamed of orange stars and new friends waiting to be made.
The next morning, Luna sat by the water watching the sunrise. She realized that adventure could be found anywhere, as long as you kept your heart open and your imagination ready.
