The Sandcastle Pyramid

Lily loved building things at the beach. Her golden retriever, Buster, loved digging beside her. Today, they were making something special.

"Look, Buster!" Lily said, patting the sand into a perfect triangle. "A pyramid!"

Buster barked and wagged his tail so hard his whole body wiggled.

Then something strange happened. The pyramid began to glow. Sparkles floated up like tiny fireflies. Lily stepped back in wonder.

A door appeared in the sand pyramid. Inside, Lily saw water flowing upward—like magic swimming right through the air!

"Come on, Buster!" she whispered.

They stepped through the glowing door and found themselves in a secret underwater kingdom, but they could breathe! Fish made of crystal swam beside them. Everything shimmered in blues and greens.

Suddenly, a grumpy-looking creature shuffles toward them. It had seaweed for hair and moved very slowly.

"I'm the Sand Zombie," it said in a bubbly voice. "But don't worry—I'm not scary. I'm just sleepy because I haven't had my adventures."

Lily felt sorry for him. "We can have an adventure together!"

The Sand Zombie smiled. "I know! Follow me!"

He led them to a beautiful garden where flowers hummed soft melodies. There, standing protectively over a patch of glowing sea-grass, was a magnificent bull made entirely of pearls and shells.

"This is Pearl Bull," the Sand Zombie explained. "He guards the Wishing Grass. Anyone who picks a blade gets one true wish."

Lily thought carefully. "I wish..." she looked at Buster, then at the Sand Zombie. "I wish that you, Mr. Sand Zombie, could have a friend who will always go on adventures with you."

The Wishing Grass glowed brighter. From the sand emerged another Sand Zombie—a girl one this time! She smiled and took the first Sand Zombie's hand.

"Thank you, Lily!" they said together.

Lily and Buster swam back through the glowing pyramid door. When they stepped onto the beach again, the pyramid was just ordinary sand. But in Lily's pocket, she found a perfect pearl that shone like moonlight.

Some adventures are real. Others are magic. But the best ones always start with kindness. Buster barked as if to say, "Exactly!"

Lily hugged him and knew that some treasures aren't things at all—they're the friends you make along the way.
