The Running Bull's Secret

Lily loved running through her grandmother's garden, her bare feet padding softly on the warm grass. One afternoon, she spotted something strange half-buried near the papaya tree—a shiny rectangle that glittered like a captured rainbow. It was an old iPhone, but when she pressed the screen, it didn't show apps or games. Instead, it projected a shimmering archway into the air.

Curious and brave, Lily stepped through the magical portal and found herself in a sunny meadow where a magnificent bull with golden horns stood grazing near crystal ponds. But this wasn't an ordinary bull. When he saw Lily, he spoke in a voice like thunder wrapped in velvet.

"Welcome, little runner. I am Fernando, guardian of the Speed Fruit."

Across the meadow, Lily saw a magnificent tree covered in glowing papayas that pulsed with energy. But between her and the tree rushed a sparkling river, and floating above it was a giant padel, like a paddle from a game, but sized for a giant.

"The Speed Fruit grants the gift of running faster than the wind," Fernando explained, "but first you must prove you have a kind heart. The padel will only ferry across those who help others."

Lily understood. She asked Fernando, "Are you lonely here guarding the tree alone?"

The bull's gentle eyes watered. "Very much. For three hundred years, no one has stopped to ask."

Lily reached up and patted his massive shoulder. "Then I won't take the fruit. I'll stay and be your friend instead."

The bull's face lit up with joy. The padel swooped down, carrying both of them across the river. The magical papaya tree dropped three perfect fruits into Lily's hands. She shared them with Fernando, and as they ate, they both began running together—Lily laughing as she discovered she could run as fast as she wanted, Fernando galloping beside her, both of them finally running toward friendship instead of away from loneliness.

That day Lily learned that the best magic isn't found in fruits or phones, but in kindness and the friends we make along the way.
