The Rainbow Zombie's Secret
Lily's black cat Mittens had the fluffiest hair in the neighborhood. Every evening, Mittens would gaze out the window at the old garden, meowing at something Lily couldn't see.
One Tuesday, Lily followed Mittens into the twilight garden. Behind the rosebushes, she saw him – a green zombie with rainbow hair that shimmered like cotton candy! Lily wanted to run, but Mittens purred and rubbed against the zombie's leg.
"I'm Zephyr," the zombie said softly. "I'm not scary. I'm magical."
His colorful hair sparkled with tiny stars that floated into the sky. Zephyr explained that he was the Guardian of Wonder, and his wild hair was made of children's happy dreams.
"But you look like a zombie," Lily said, stepping closer.
"People fear what they don't understand," Zephyr replied gently. "But look –" He held out his hand, and butterflies made of moonlight fluttered from his palm.
Every night that summer, Lily and Mittens visited Zephyr. They learned that true beauty comes from kindness, not appearances. The zombie who seemed frightening was actually the most magical friend they'd ever made.
And somewhere, children still dream of rainbow hair and the secret garden where a zombie taught them that friendship blooms in the most unexpected places.
