The Rainbow Bear's Magic Pool

Lily loved swimming. Every summer day, she would jump into the cool blue water of the neighborhood pool, her curly red hair bobbing like little springs around her face. But today was different.

As Lily climbed onto the wooden deck, she saw something extraordinary. A large brown bear sat on the edge of the pool, wearing a bright yellow sun hat with pink flowers. The bear looked sad.

"Hello," said Lily bravely. "I'm Lily. What's your name?"

The bear sighed. "I'm Barnaby. I wish I could go swimming like all the children. But bears don't swim."

Lily looked at Barnaby's messy brown fur, then had an idea. "Stay right here!" she said, running to her bag.

When she returned, she held out her favorite blue swim cap. "This might fit!"

Barnaby's eyes twinkled. As Lily helped him pull the cap over his head, something magical happened. Barnaby's brown fur began to shimmer and change color—first blue like the pool water, then green like seaweed, then pink like coral.

"My hair!" gasped Barnaby. "It's magical swimming hair!"

Together they splashed into the water. Barnaby floated perfectly, his colorful fur creating rainbows in the sunlight. Other children gathered around, amazed. They played games and raced from one end of the pool to the other. Barnaby was the fastest swimmer of all.

As the sun began to set, Barnaby climbed out of the pool, his fur returning to brown. "Thank you, Lily," he said, adjusting his yellow hat. "I learned something today. Sometimes you just need a friend to believe in you."

Lily smiled, hugging her new friend. "And sometimes you need a magical swim cap!"

The next day, when Lily returned to the pool, Barnaby was gone. But floating on the water's surface was a single bright hair—shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow. Lily knew that magic was real, and that friendship was the greatest magic of all.

Now whenever Lily goes swimming, she wears her blue cap and wonders where Barnaby is swimming now, probably making magical rainbows somewhere wonderful.
