The Pyramid's Secret Gift
Lily loved exploring behind her grandmother's house, especially on hot summer days. That's where she found the mysterious golden pyramid half-buried in the garden.
"Grandma! What's this?" Lily called, brushing dirt from the tiny pyramid. It sparkled like captured sunshine.
Her grandmother's white hair caught the light as she smiled. "Ah, that's your grandfather's treasure. He brought it from Egypt long ago."
Lily turned the pyramid in her hands. Strange markings covered its surface. Suddenly, it clicked open, revealing a small compartment inside.
"It's empty," Lily said, disappointed.
"Not exactly," Grandma whispered, leaning closer. "Put a drop of water on it."
Lily ran to the garden hose and returned with wet fingers. One drop of water glistened on her fingertip as she touched it to the pyramid's center.
The pyramid began to glow! Golden light swirled around it like tiny dancing stars. Then something magical happened—the pyramid showed them pictures!
Lily watched amazed as she saw ancient Egyptian children playing by the Nile River. She saw them building pyramids, laughing, and splashing in the water.
"They're just like us!" Lily gasped.
Grandma nodded, her eyes twinkling. "All children everywhere need the same things—love, friendship, and water to drink and play in."
The pyramid's light faded, but its magic remained in Lily's heart. That night, she dreamed of those ancient children, and she knew that across all time and places, the most important things stayed the same.
The next day, Lily placed the pyramid on her windowsill where it could catch the morning sun. Sometimes, when she looked at it, she imagined she could still hear the laughter of children from thousands of years ago, teaching her that magic connects us all, no matter how different we might seem.
