The Pyramid's Secret Game
Lily found the golden pyramid hidden behind the old oak tree in her backyard. It was tiny, no bigger than her fist, and shimmered like captured sunlight. As she reached for it, her cat Mittens purred loudly and nudged her hand with a soft, furry head.
"You found it!" Mittens meowed, but somehow Lily understood the words clearly. "The Pyramid of Dreams waits for someone with a brave heart."
Lily gasped. "You can talk?"
"Only when the pyramid is near," Mittens explained. "Inside are magical dreams waiting to be played. But first, you must prove you're worthy."
The pyramid's sides unfolded like origami, revealing a tiny baseball field complete with miniature bases and a miniscule bat. Lily picked up the bat—it felt warm in her hand, humming with energy.
"Hit the ball into the pyramid's opening," Mittens instructed, "and whatever you imagine will become real for one whole day. But choose wisely—magic should help others, not just yourself."
Lily thought carefully. Her little brother Timmy had been sad since his dog ran away last month. She closed her eyes and swung the bat. The ball sailed perfectly through the pyramid's glowing center.
Suddenly, a golden retriever puppy bounded into the yard, yapping happily. Timmy rushed outside, his sadness vanishing as he hugged the magical puppy.
"But it's only magic for today," Lily whispered to Mittens.
The cat winked. "Some magic lasts longer than you think. True wishes have a way of finding their way home."
And that's how Timmy found his new best friend—a puppy who strangely appeared just when he needed one most. The pyramid disappeared, but Mittens still purrs whenever Timmy plays fetch with his dog, as if sharing a wonderful secret only they understand.
Sometimes, Lily thinks about hitting another ball into the pyramid. But then she remembers: the best magic isn't about getting what you want—it's about helping someone else find what they need.
