The Pyramid's Secret Game
Lily and Max loved playing baseball in their backyard. One afternoon, Lily hit the ball so hard it sailed over the fence and disappeared behind the old oak tree. When they went to look for it, they couldn't believe their eyes.
There, glowing softly in the dappled sunlight, stood a miniature pyramid no bigger than a shoebox. It shimmered like rainbows, and strange symbols pulsed along its sides.
"Touch it!" Max whispered. But when Lily's finger grazed the pyramid's surface, it grew bigger and bigger until it was tall as their house!
Inside, they discovered a dusty room filled with ancient toys. Suddenly, something groaned from the corner. A zombie stumbled forward!
Lily gasped and grabbed Max's arm. But then she looked closer. This zombie wasn't scary at all. It wore a tattered baseball jersey and held a mitt. Its green skin sparkled like emeralds, and its eyes twinkled kindly.
"Play ball?" the zombie rasped, pointing to an old baseball.
"You like baseball?" Max asked, amazed.
The zombie nodded, trying to smile. "Long time... no friends... just want game."
Lily realized something important. The zombie wasn't creepy — it was just lonely. "We'll play with you!"
They played the most magical baseball game ever inside the pyramid. The zombie, whose name was Zim, threw fantastic pitches that sparkled as they flew. The ball bounced off walls and returned to their hands. Zim laughed so hard he almost fell apart — literally! His arm popped off, and he scrambled to screw it back on while Max and Lily giggled.
As sunset painted the sky orange, Zim sighed. "Thank you. Best day ever."
"We'll come back!" Lily promised. "Every day after school!"
That night, as Lily drifted to sleep, she understood something wonderful: sometimes the things that seem scariest are just the things that need friendship most. And the best adventures happen when you're brave enough to say hello.
The pyramid still glows in their backyard, waiting for tomorrow's game.
