The Pyramid's Secret Friend

Lily loved exploring the beach after storms. That's when the most interesting things washed up from the deep, deep ocean. But she never expected to find THIS.

It was a small golden pyramid, no bigger than her hand, glowing with mysterious light. When Lily picked it up, the sand beneath her feet began to shimmer and sparkle like diamonds.

"Hello?" called a voice from behind a dune.

Lily jumped! Standing there was a greenish-gray boy with messy purple hair that stuck up like seaweed. He looked a little like a zombie from her storybooks, but his eyes were kind and curious.

"I'm Zed," he said shyly. "Are you here to see the swimming stars too?"

"Swimming stars?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.

Zed nodded, his purple curls bouncing. "Inside the pyramid! My great-great-great-grandpa was a pirate captain. He found magic pyramids that show entire underwater kingdoms. But everyone was scared of me because I look different."

Lily looked at Zed's friendly smile. "They were wrong to judge you. Will you show me?"

Together, they touched the pyramid. WHOOSH! Suddenly, they weren't on the beach anymore. They were swimming through sparkling blue water where tiny stars really did swim like glowing fish.

"Beautiful," Lily breathed.

"I knew you'd understand," Zed said, his hair floating around his face like purple seaweed. "Sometimes the scariest-looking things hold the most magic."

They swam together for hours, exploring coral castles and dancing with star-fish. When they finally returned to the beach, the sun was setting.

"Will you come back tomorrow?" Zed asked hopefully.

"Every day," Lily promised. "And I'll tell everyone that zombies can be the best friends."

From that day on, Lily and Zed had amazing adventures. She learned that true friends see with their hearts, not their eyes. And Zed finally showed his purple hair proudly, knowing someone liked him exactly as he was.

After all, the best magic is friendship.
