The Pyramid's Secret Friend
Lila loved running through the golden desert near her village. Every morning, she'd race the wind, her bare feet kicking up tiny clouds of dust. One especially hot day, she spotted something glinting in the distance—a perfect pyramid made of crystal!
She ran closer, her heart pounding with excitement. The pyramid wasn't like the ones in her books. It shimmered with all the colors of sunset. Beside it, a pool of blue water sparkled like liquid sapphire.
'Hello?' Lila called softly.
Something groaned from behind the pyramid. Out shuffled a strange figure—greenish-gray skin, tangled hair, clothes that looked centuries old. Lila gasped. It was like the zombie from her brother's stories!
But this zombie didn't want to eat brains. He sat by the water, looking sad.
'I'm Zed,' he croaked. 'And I'm lonely.'
Lila's fear melted away. 'I'm Lila. Why are you sad?'
Zed pointed at the water. 'This is magical Moon Water. It can make anything alive again. But I can't reach it.'
He explained he'd been cursed by a grumpy wizard centuries ago. The only cure was a sip of Moon Water, but he was too slow.
'Why didn't you say so?' Lila grinned. She grabbed a shell from the sand, filled it with water, and held it to Zed's lips.
GOLDEN light exploded around them! Zed's skin turned warm and brown, his eyes brightened. He wasn't a zombie anymore—he was a boy!
'Thank you, Lila!' he cheered. 'You're the best friend ever!'
They spent the day running and playing by the crystal pyramid. When Lila returned home, she knew she'd found something magical—not just a new friend, but the truth that sometimes the scariest-looking creatures just need someone to see who they really are.
