The Pyramid's Secret Friend

Leo loved swimming more than anything in the world. Every day after school, he'd race to the community pool, his towel flapping behind him like a superhero cape.

One Tuesday, something magical happened. As Leo dove into the cool blue water, he noticed something strange at the bottom of the deep end. A golden pyramid, glowing softly like a captured sunbeam.

Leo swam down, his fingers trailing through the water. As he touched the pyramid's smooth surface, it began to spin. Bubbles swirled around him, and suddenly, the pyramid opened like a flower blooming in spring.

Inside sat a small green creature with patchy clothes and clumsy movements. It looked like what Leo's big sister called a zombie, but this creature's eyes were kind, not scary.

"Hello," said the creature, its voice sounding like water running over pebbles. "I've been waiting for someone to find me."

Leo wasn't scared. "Are you a zombie?"

The creature shrugged. "People call me that because I move slowly and look different. But really, I'm just Zim, a guardian of the pyramid. I protect the magic hidden in special swimming places."

"But you look lonely," Leo said.

Zim nodded sadly. "Everyone swims away when they see me. They don't know I just want a friend."

Leo grinned. "Want to race?"

From that day on, Leo and Zim played together every afternoon. Zim taught Leo how to do bubble rings and how to hold his breath longer than anyone else. Leo taught Zim that being different wasn't bad — it just made you special.

Other children soon noticed Leo laughing at the bottom of the pool. When they finally saw Zim, they didn't swim away. They saw how Zim helped anyone who was afraid of deep water, how Zim could fix broken goggles with a touch, and how Zim made everyone feel brave.

The pyramid became their secret clubhouse, a place where everyone learned that true friends aren't about how you look or how fast you swim — they're about kindness and the magic of acceptance.

Leo learned that some secrets are worth keeping, especially when they turn scary monsters into best friends.
