The Pyramid's Secret Friend
Lily's golden retriever, Buster, loved exploring the backyard. But today, something magical happened. Behind the old oak tree, Buster started digging furiously. His tail wagged so hard it looked like a fuzzy metronome!
"Buster! What did you find?" Lily knelt beside her dog.
Buster had uncovered something incredible—a tiny pyramid no bigger than a shoebox, glowing with rainbow light. The pyramid had symbols that sparkled like stars.
Suddenly, the pyramid's top popped open! Out tumbled a small green figure. It had fuzzy purple hair, three eyes, and the biggest smile Lily had ever seen.
"Hello!" the figure said. "I'm Zed!"
"Are you... a zombie?" Lily asked, her eyes wide.
"A garden zombie!" Zed twirled. "I make flowers grow instead of eating brains. See?" He touched the ground, and beautiful bluebells instantly bloomed around his feet.
Buster sniffed Zed, then barked happily.
"This pyramid is my home," Zed explained. "I was trapped inside for a hundred years because no one believed in magic anymore. But you and your dog believed!"
Lily's heart swelled. "We'll be your friends, Zed!"
Every day after school, Lily and Buster visited Zed's magical pyramid. Zed taught them secret flower languages. Buster learned to sing along with the birds Zed summoned. Together, they created a garden so beautiful that butterflies traveled from miles away just to see it.
One afternoon, Zed looked sad. "I have to go back. My magic is needed in other gardens."
"But we'll miss you!" Lily hugged him.
"True friends never really say goodbye," Zed whispered, pressing a tiny pyramid charm into her hand. "Whenever you need magic, just hold this and believe."
Zed vanished in a sparkle of purple light. But Lily noticed something wonderful—the flowers he planted never stopped blooming. And sometimes, when the wind blew just right, she could hear Zed's laughter in the rustling leaves.
Buster still dug by the old oak tree every day. Because the best adventures, Lily discovered, are the ones you share with friends—even the magical ones you meet by accident.
And that's how a girl, her dog, and a garden zombie learned that the magic of friendship is the greatest treasure of all.
