The Pyramid's Secret Friend

Lily discovered the golden pyramid tucked away in her grandmother's dusty attic. It sparkled even in the dim light, and something about it felt magical, like it was whispering her name. Curious, she traced her fingers along its smooth sides and noticed a thick cable coiled beside it, glowing with soft blue light.

"Grandma never mentioned this!" Lily whispered, her heart racing with excitement. She carefully picked up the cable and watched as it wriggled in her hands like a friendly snake. The cable seemed to know exactly where to go, wrapping around the pyramid's base until—CLICK!—the pyramid began to hum.

Suddenly, green smoke puffed out, and a small figure tumbled onto the attic floor. Lily gasped. It looked like a zombie, with patches of green skin and mismatched buttons for eyes. But instead of feeling scared, Lily felt a warm glow in her chest.

The zombie sat up, looking around with wide button eyes. Its purple hair stuck up in crazy directions like a cotton candy explosion. It smiled—a crooked, friendly smile—and patted its wild hair as if checking it was still there.

"Hello!" said the zombie in a squeaky voice. "I'm Zim! I've been sleeping in that pyramid for three hundred years! My hair got so messy from all the dreaming!"

Lily giggled. "I'm Lily. Your hair is amazing!"

Zim beamed. "Would you like to see what I can do?" Zim waved a hand, and the glowing cable lifted into the air, weaving itself into the shape of a flying carpet. "Hop on! We can have adventures together!"

Lily's eyes shone with wonder. "But won't Grandma be surprised?"

"The best friends always are!" Zim said, holding out a green hand.

Lily climbed onto the cable-carpet beside her new friend. As they floated out the attic window into the starry night, she realized that the scariest-looking things sometimes turn out to be the most wonderful. And friendship, she learned, is the greatest magic of all—more powerful than pyramids, more mysterious than ancient cables, and more beautiful than even the craziest purple hair in the world.
