The Pyramid's Secret Friend

Lily loved exploring the woods behind her house. Every afternoon after school, she would go running through the trees, her sneakers crunching on fallen leaves. But today, she discovered something she'd never seen before.

Hidden deep in the forest stood a small golden pyramid, glowing with soft light. It was only as tall as her knees, and sparkled like captured sunshine.

"Hello?" she called out softly.

A groan came from behind the pyramid. Lily peeked around and gasped. There sat a green figure—part of a zombie! But instead of looking scary, he looked sad and tired. His skin was pale, his eyes droopy.

"I'm Zombo," he croaked. "I guard the magic pyramid, but I haven't had my special vitamin in hundreds of years. The magic swimming pool dried up, and now I'm too weak to protect the treasure inside."

Lily's eyes widened. "What's inside?"

"Dreams for children who believe in magic," Zombo smiled weakly. "But I'm too tired to keep them safe."

Lily knew what she had to do. She grabbed her water bottle from her backpack and remembered the stream nearby. "I'll help you find the magic vitamin!"

She led Zombo to the stream, where they found a glowing blue pool. "The magic swimming pool!" Zombo cried. But the special vitamin floated in the deepest part.

Lily jumped in, swimming as fast as she could. The water felt like warm honey. She grabbed the glowing orange vitamin—a crystal shaped like a tiny star.

When Zombo ate it, his pale green skin turned healthy brown, his eyes brightened, and he stood up tall and strong.

"Thank you, Lily!" he hugged her gently. "You didn't run away when you saw me. You helped instead."

Lily learned that day that sometimes, the things that seem scary just need a little help—and friendship is the most powerful magic of all.

Now every afternoon, you can find Lily and Zombo running through the woods, swimming in the magic pool, and guarding the pyramid together, best friends forever.
